Acetic acid diethylene glycol monobutyl ether ester is a chemical compound from the group of substituted carboxylic acid esters .

Extraction and presentation

Acetic acid diethylene glycol monobutyl ether ester can be obtained by esterifying diethylene glycol monobutyl ether with acetic acid or acetic anhydride .

properties

Acetic acid diethylene glycol monobutyl ether ester is a flammable, hardly inflammable, light and air sensitive, colorless liquid with a fruity odor and bitter taste, which is soluble in water. Due to its ether bridges and ester group, the compound enters into the reactions characteristic of ethers and esters and has their dissolving power. For example, it dissolves numerous natural and synthetic resins, plasticizers , waxes, fats and oils - especially at elevated temperatures .

use

Acetic acid diethylene glycol monobutyl ether ester is used as a solvent for oils, resins, rubber, also for cellulose nitrate and polymer coatings, and as a plasticizer for paints and coatings. It is also used as a cleaning agent.

safety instructions

Acetic acid diethylene glycol monobutyl ether ester can form peroxides in air .
