Esterloh (also Österloh ) is a place in the municipality of St. Pantaleon , in the Braunau am Inn district in Upper Austria .

geography

The place is partly counted to the locality Wildshut and the locality Trimmelkam . Esterloh has meanwhile outgrown the hamlet stage due to construction activity , but is still listed as such in official statistics. It consists of two parts. The older part is actually next to it, while the newer part is directly on Frankinger Landesstraße (L 504) between the village of Trimmelkam and the Rotte Eiferding . Local roads also lead from Esterloh to the Vorderberger settlement and the hamlet of Söllham . Furthermore, a goods road leads over the Bichlinger Berg to Bichling . Before the onset of general motorization in the middle of the 20th century, sidewalks led to the village of Stockham and Piracher Holz on St. Pantaleoner Landesstraße. The local farms have now been closed.

The landmark of Esterloh is the Great Chapel of Esterloh (also Laimer Chapel ).

etymology

The name is probably derived from the Middle High German words ester 'Feld-, Weidegatter' and loch or loh 'Gebüsch, Gehölz, Hain, Wald'.
