Esther Kretzinger (born September 17, 1983 in Großkarol , Romania) is a German- and Hungarian-speaking opera, lied, concert and oratorio singer with a soprano voice .

biography

Kretzinger is the daughter of a church musician and a graduate engineer. As the daughter of Hungarian Germans , she moved to Germany when she was five, where she grew up in Günzburg . She attended the musical branch at St. Thomas Gymnasium Wettenhausen , where she also received her first lessons in voice training and piano. From 1999 onwards, she received singing training from the soprano Ingrid Fraunholz in Günzburg. In 2001 she began studying singing with Siglinde Damisch-Kusterer at the state vocational school for music in Krumbach. In 2002 she moved to the Mozarteum University in Salzburg , where she studied singing with Ingrid Mayr and opera and music theater with Reinhard Seifried, Wolfgang Kolneder and Eike Gramss . In 2008 she graduated with honors and received the Lilli Lehmann Medal from the International Mozarteum Foundation in 2008 . Since 2014 she has been artistic director of the Weissenhorn Klassik chamber music series, which she founded.

Artistic career

As part of her training, she completed masterclasses with Adrienne West (Holland), Angelika Kirchschlager (Salzburg), Barbara Bonney (Salzburg), Peter Berne (Salzburg) and Helena Lazarska ( International Summer Academy Mozarteum Salzburg ). At the beginning of her career, Kretzinger mainly worked in the opera and operetta field. In 2004 she got an engagement as a choir player in the context of the operetta productions "One Night in Venice" and "One Waltz Dream" of the Lehár Festival in Bad Ischl . From 2005 to 2007 she was a soloist with the Salzburg Concert Society. In the 2007/08 season she made her debut at the Salzburger Landestheater as Sandmännchen / Taumännchen in Humperdinck's “Hansel und Gretel” under Johannes Wildner (director: Joachim Radtke) and as Norina in “ Don Pasquale ” under Ola Rudner (director: Serena Sinigaglia). In 2008 she made a guest appearance at the “ Haus für Mozart ” (Salzburg) as Najade in “ Ariadne auf Naxos ” under Ivor Bolton (director: Stephen Medcalf). In the same year she received a solo engagement at the National Opera Oslo , combined with a concert tour in Norway and to Russia with the orchestra and ensemble of the National Opera. In the 2008/09 season she was engaged at the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg , where she received good reviews as Liu in " Turandot " under Jin Wang.

Esther Kretzinger worked with the conductors Johannes Wildner , Daniel Hoyem-Cavazza, Markus Poschner , Ivor Bolton , Peter Gülke , Jin Wang, Lavard Skou-Larsen, Ola Rudner, Sebastian Weigle , Dennis Russell Davies , Herbert Mogg, Albert Anglberger, Kai Röhrig, Andreas Sagstetter, Per Kristian Skalstad, Terje Boye Hansen and Walter Gehlert as well as the directors Leonard C. Prinsloo, Anja Sündermann, Eike Gramss , Bernhard Stengele , Stephan Medcalf, Joachim Rathke, Wolfgang Kolneder , Kurt-Josef Schildknecht , Serena Sinigaglia. Since 2007 there has been regular collaboration with the German Chamber Academy Neuss am Rhein and with the Salzburg Chamber Soloists under Lavard Skou-Larsen. From 2009 she turned increasingly to the song repertoire, working with the Russian pianist Andrej Hovrin and the Slovak pianist Nora Skuta. Recitals in Belgium, Germany, Austria, Russia, Switzerland, Slovenia, Spain and Taiwan followed.

In 2011 her first CD “Lieder im Volkston” was published by Gramola.
