The CF Estrela da Amadora was a football club from the Portuguese city of Amadora , near Lisbon . The club played its home games at the Estádio José Gomes .
history
The association was founded on January 22nd, 1932. The club's greatest success was winning the Taça de Portugal in 1990 . After a 1: 1 after extra time you could defeat SC Farense 2: 0 in the replay . In the European Cup Winners' Cup , they failed in the 2nd round at RFC Liège .
In total, the club played 16 seasons in the Primeira Liga, for the first time in the 1988/89 season . The last season so far in the top division was played in 2008/09 . Due to financial problems, the club was banned from participating in professional football in the following season and Amadora had to relegate to the II Divisão (the third highest division). Belenenses Lisbon was therefore able to keep the class, despite sporting relegation.
In 2011, the club was dissolved due to over-indebtedness and a successor club called Clube de Futebol Estrela was founded.
