Tiago Henrique Damil Gomes (born July 29, 1986 in Oeiras ) is a Portuguese soccer player who has been under contract with the Portuguese first division club Sporting Braga since summer 2014 .
Career
In the club
Tiago Gomes played early in his career for the second team of Benfica . For the 2006/07 season he was included in the professional squad, but immediately loaned to the first division competitor CF Estrela Amadora . There he made his first division debut, but overall did not get beyond the role of supplementary player. In the 2007/08 season he then played 19 league games on loan for the Polish first division club Zagłębie Lubin . At the end of the season, however, the club had to relegate due to involvement in a corruption scandal. For the 2008/09 season , Tiago Gomes then moved to the Spanish first division club CA Osasuna on a free transfer . After a disappointing season without any league use, he returned to Portugal for the 2009/10 season and played for Belenenses Lisbon . There he was initially only used as a substitute. After relegation at the end of the season, he finally moved up into the regular formation in the 2010/11 season . For the 2011/12 season he was obliged by second division competitor GD Estoril Praia , with whom he rose to the top of the table in the Primeira Liga at the end of the season . In the 2012/13 season he was fifth with the promoted team, after which he participated in the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League . For the 2014/15 season , Tiago Gomes joined Sporting Braga . For the 2015/16 season he moved on loan to the French second division club FC Metz , with whom he was promoted to Ligue 1 at the end of the season .
In the national team
Tiago Gomes was already part of the U17 , U19 , U20 and U21 national teams of Portugal. On November 18, 2014, he made his debut under national coach Fenando Santos in a friendly against Argentina (1-0) in the national team .
