The title was created on a trip the songwriters to Graceland ; he was inspired by the Eternal Flame . The piece became a number one hit in the US , UK , Ireland , Australia , the Netherlands , Belgium , Norway and Sweden .
In 2001 Atomic Kitten released a cover version that also became an international hit.
