Extraction and presentation

Ethirimol can be obtained by reacting 2-butyl-ethylacetoacetate with ethylguanidine .

use

Ethirimol is used as a protective and curative, systemic fungicide against powdery mildew . The effect is based on inhibition of adenosine deaminase (ADAase). It is also the main metabolite of bupirimate .

Admission

Ethirimol was approved in the FRG from 1971 to 1991. No plant protection products containing this active ingredient are permitted in the EU or Switzerland .
