Ethyldimethylamine is a chemical compound from the group of aliphatic amines .
Extraction and presentation
Ethyldimethylamine can be obtained by reducing N , N -dimethylacetamide with lithium aluminum hydride .
properties
Ethyldimethylamine is a highly flammable, volatile, colorless to yellowish liquid with an ammonia- like odor, which is miscible with water. Your aqueous solution reacts strongly alkaline.
use
Ethyldimethylamine is used as an adhesive, sealant chemical and process controller . It acts as an intermediate for quaternary ammonium compounds and is also used as a stabilizer for chlorinated hydrocarbons and vinyl derivatives , as well as in the polymerisation of polyamides . It is also used in the production of polypeptide nanogels with self-amplified endocytoses . It also serves as a crosslinker in paper finishing.
safety instructions
The vapors of ethyldimethylamine can form an explosive mixture with air ( flash point –28 ° C).
