Eugene "Gene" Grazia (born July 29, 1934 in West Springfield , Massachusetts , † November 9, 2014 in Florida ) was an Italian - American ice hockey player . At the 1960 Winter Olympics , he won the gold medal as a member of the US national team.

Career

Gene Grazia began his career as a hockey player at HC Milano Inter , for which he was active in the 1952/53 season in the Italian Serie A1 . From 1954 to 1958 he attended Michigan State University , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . The 1957/58 season ended the attacker with the Toledo Mercurys , for which he ran up in two games in the International Hockey League . From 1958 to 1960 he also took part in Team USA's preparation for the Olympic Games. He then ended his career at the age of 26.

International

For the USA , Grazia took part in the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley , where he and his team won the gold medal. He was also in his country's squad for the 1959 World Cup . Grazia had previously played for Italy at the B-World Cup in 1953 and scored four goals and three assists in five games.
