Eugenio Sbarbaro

Eugenio Sbarbaro (born July 3, 1934 in Belpiano di Borzonasca , Province of Genoa , Italy ) is a former diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Eugenio Sbarbaro was ordained a priest on June 11, 1960 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular Archbishop of Tiddi and Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Malawi and Zambia on September 14, 1985 . He received his episcopal ordination from Cardinal Secretary of State Agostino Casaroli on October 19 of the same year; Co - consecrators were Pio Laghi , Apostolic Pro-Nuncio to the United States of America , and James Aloysius Hickey , Archbishop of Washington .

On February 7, 1991, John Paul II called him Apostolic Nuncio in Bahamas , Barbados , Dominica , Jamaica , Grenada , Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Saint Lucia , and on July 13, 1994, as Apostolic Nuncio in Suriname , and also on 26 August 1997 as Apostolic Nuncio in Guyana and on October 23, 1999 as Apostolic Nuncio in Saint Kitts and Nevis . On April 26, 2000 John Paul II appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Yugoslavia .

Pope Benedict XVI Appointed him on June 19, 2006 to the Apostolic Nuncio in Serbia and on August 8, 2009 he accepted his resignation due to reasons of age.
