Eurelectric (proper spelling "EURELECTRIC"; full name: "Union of the Electricity Industry -", English "The Union of the Electricity Industry - EURELECTRIC") was an industry association of the European electricity industry .
Goals and Activities
The association bundles the interests of around 100 national associations and individual companies at European level, and carried out lobbying work within the framework of the energy industry and energy policy of the European Union . In addition, the association carried out information and public relations work, promoted the exchange of information and experience between the members, organized an annual conference on the e-business and awarded a prize to personalities from the industry.
history
The association was created in 1999 through the merger of the predecessor organizations UNIPEDE and Eurelectric . The former Eurelectric (before the merger) was a pure lobby organization whose activities and members were limited to the EU. The association, based in Brussels, was founded in 1989. UNIPEDE ( French Union Internationale des Producteurs et Distributeurs d'Energie Electrique , English International Union of Producers and Distributors of Electrical Energy ), on the other hand, was an association of power generation and transport companies founded in 1925 Seat in Paris, whose members came from all over Europe (not only EU) and also from other parts of the world.
