The Euro Theater Central in Bonn is one of the smallest one-room theaters in North Rhine-Westphalia with a 38 square meter stage and seats for around 50 spectators . It has been privately run for almost 50 years.

history

The theater was founded under the name “Theater Central” on December 6, 1969 by Claus Marteau (actually Claus Wernert) from Osterode in the Harz Mountains and his wife, the dancer Gisela Pflugradt, in the canteen of a department store in Bonn. Shortly afterwards, the theater moved to what was then the “Igel” night bar, and later they moved to the Montanus bookstore; Since 1972 they have been playing in the current location - a three-story Wilhelminian-style house on the narrow Mauspfad - in downtown Bonn, near Bonn Minster . The name of the theater was expanded to include Euro Theater Central in the knowledge that Claus Marteau, through his half-siblings in Alsace, took seriously the vision of a cultural dialogue on a European scale from a very early age. The Euro Theater Central has two employees; since her husband's death in 1995, Gisela Pflugradt-Marteau has run the theater alone. She acted as managing director, general manager and director at the same time . In January 2017 it became known that the long-time dramaturge Ulrike Fischer had taken over the management of the theater. The theater is also supported by the Claus-Marteau-Gesellschaft eV - Friends of the Euro Theater Central Bonn .
