The Springmaus house in Bonn - Endenich is one of the best known cabaret theaters in Germany and is home to the Springmaus improvisational theater group with over 65,000 visitors annually . It is managed by Andreas Etienne .

history

In 1983 the Canadian actor Bill Mockridge founded his improvisation theater Die Springmaus in Bonn , an ensemble that was soon to become well-known nationwide. The question of a permanent venue quickly arose, which was put into operation on April 1, 1985 with the first Jumping Mouse House on the busy Oxfordstrasse in Bonn.

The theater on Oxfordstrasse was a basement theater with a ceiling height of 2.20 meters, a stage of only 9 square meters that could seat 150 people. Nevertheless, well-known artists such as Richard Rogler , Harald Schmidt , Konrad Beikircher and Hanns-Dieter Hüsch , but also talented youngsters such as the still young Dirk Bach appeared early on.

After a few years the theater on Oxfordstrasse became too small, and the low ceiling height made many guest performances impossible. Etienne and his team started looking for a bigger venue. They found it in the Bonn district of Endenich, where they moved into a former dance hall on Frongasse in 1993 - after nine months of renovation. In doing so, they laid the foundation stone for what is known as the Endsich Cultural Mile with a multitude of attractive offers.

The theater is run by the non-profit cultural association “Haus der Springmaus e. V. "

The new theater has three hundred seats on two levels, a spacious foyer, spacious artists' changing rooms and an office and administration wing. The stage now enables guest performances by larger ensembles and more elaborate stage designs.

Program and artist

The program includes cabaret, improvisation, concerts and literary programs.

The theater is the main venue of the improvisation ensemble Die Springmaus and the cabaret duo Die Nachbarn , consisting of Andreas Etienne and the actor Michael Müller . In 1995 the House of the Jumping Mouse opened its doors to children and started one of today's most successful children's theater series in the Rhenish region through the initiative of the Bonn Piccolo Puppet Shows . Since September 2006 there has been another house ensemble with “@rheinkabarett”, which Etienne and Müller also belong to.

So far, there have been many others in the house of the jerboa : Anka Zink , Urban Priol , Robert Kreis , Bastian Pastewka , Lars Reichow , Maximilian Osterritter , Tim Fischer , Bernd Stelter , Helen Vita and Jörg Knör . Dieter Nuhr and Mario Barth had the first test demonstration of their respective new program in 2006 (Barth with “Men are primitive but happy” ) and 2007 (Nuhr with “Nuhr the truth” ) in the house of the jumping mouse.

The house of the jumping mouse also organizes events outside of its own theater. On the open-air area of the art and exhibition hall of the Federal Republic of Germany , the House of Springmaus was the organizer of the Bonn cabaret festival in the Roncalli mirror tent with performances by nationally and internationally renowned artists. Other events took place, for example, in the Beethoven Hall and the Bridge Forum in Bonn.
