Gymnastics (rhythmic) pictogram.svg

The VII European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships took place between November 1st and 4th, 1990 in Gothenburg , Sweden . The competition program was changed in three respects compared to 1988 . In the individual disciplines, gymnastics was performed with the ball instead of the clubs. In the group competition, three hoops and three balls and six clubs were used. In the individual all-around there was also a preliminary fight, and a team rating was introduced.
After the German reunification, the German athletes competed with a united team for the first time.

Individual all-around

To determine the total score, the points from the sub-disciplines rope, hoop, ball and tape were added together.
The best 26 starters of the preliminary competition did another round in the final, whereby only two starters per nation were allowed.
The eight best starters in the sub- disciplines ( highlighted here in italics ) contested the four device finals.
To determine the team ranking, all points of the gymnasts (three per team) from the preliminary round were added together.

Since only two starters per final were allowed per nation, the Soviet Russian Alexandra Timotschenko (9,700) had to do without the start. The Spaniard Carolina Pascual (9,550) moved up for them.

group

This time the team competition consisted of three disciplines. First the group all-round competition was completed, in which two groups per team competed. One group did gymnastics with six clubs, the other with three ropes and three balls. The results add up to the result of the all-around competition. In addition, individual finals were performed in both sub-disciplines, with the eight best teams in each sub-discipline (highlighted in italics in the all- around table) competing again. The grade achieved in the all-around competition was added as a preliminary grade.
