To determine the total score, the points from the sub-disciplines rope, hoop, clubs and tape were added together. The eight best athletes in the sub-disciplines ( highlighted here in italics ) contested the equipment finals.
For the first time only gold medals were awarded. All three winners did gymnastics in all four sub-disciplines with the highest mark of 10,000. The highest grade was awarded seven more times.

group

This time the team competition consisted of three disciplines. First the group all-round competition was completed, in which two groups per team competed. One group did gymnastics with six balls, the other with three hoops and three ribbons. The results add up to the result of the all-around competition. In addition, individual finals were performed in both sub-disciplines, with the eight best teams in each sub-discipline (highlighted in italics in the all- around table) competing again. The grade achieved in the all-around competition was added as a preliminary grade.
