European Championships in Rhythmic Gymnastics 1984

The IV European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships took place between November 15 and 18, 1984 in Vienna , Austria . The competition program had not changed since 1982. The athletes competed in individual all-around competitions, plus the four equipment finals. Instead of the rope, this time gymnastics was performed with a ball. There was also the team competition.

To determine the total score, the points from the sub-disciplines tire, ball, clubs and ribbon were added together.
The eight best athletes in the sub-disciplines ( highlighted here in italics ) contested the equipment finals.

Diliana Guerguieva (BUL), who scored a 9.900 in the all-around competition, and Tatjana Drutschinina (RUS), who achieved a 9.800, did not start in the final. For them, the Czechoslovak Daniela Zahorovska and the Polish Teresa Folga moved up, both of whom scored 9,700 in the all-around competition.

Lilia Ignatova (BUL), who achieved a 9.950 in the all-around competition, and Tatjana Drutschinina (RUS), who achieved a 9.800, did not start in the final. For them, the GDR athlete Heidi Krause (9,800 in the all-around) and the Polish Teresa Folga (9,700 in the all-around) moved up.

Lilia Ignatova (BUL), who achieved a 9.900 in the all-around competition, and Tatjana Drutschinina (RUS), who achieved a 9.850, did not start in the final. The Romanian Doina Staiculescu and the Spanish Marta Canton moved up for them, both of whom did 9,650 gymnastics in the all-around competition.

The team competition consisted of a preliminary and a final. In the preliminary fight two rounds of gymnastics were performed, the points added up to form an overall result. The eight best teams made it to the final. There was another round of gymnastics here. The points average of the two preliminary rounds was then added to the points scored.
