Carpathian Euroregion

The Carpathian Euroregion is an international association founded on February 14, 1993 by the Foreign Ministers of Poland , Slovakia , Ukraine and Hungary in Debrecen . Romania joined in April 1997.

The Carpathian Euroregion comprises 19 administrative units in five countries in Central and Eastern Europe : Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine and Hungary. The area of ​​the Carpathian Euroregion covers approximately 148,095 square kilometers and is home to approximately 15 million people. The Euroregion was founded to bring people from the entire region together and to promote cooperation in science, culture, education, trade, tourism and business.

Poland

In Poland, the south-eastern Subcarpathian Voivodeship is part of the Euroregion.

Romania

In Romania, the Euroregion comprises the seven districts of Bihor , Sălaj , Satu Mare , Maramureș (in the northwest), Harghita , Suceava and Botoșani (in the northeast).

Slovakia

From Slovakia, the eastern Slovak landscape associations Prešov and Košice are involved in the Euroregion.

Ukraine

Ukraine is represented in the Euroregion by the four western Ukrainian oblasts of Lviv , Transcarpathian , Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi .

Hungary

In Hungary, the five counties in the north-east of the country, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén , Hajdú-Bihar , Heves , Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg belong to the Euroregion.
