Evan Furness (born August 13, 1998 in Pontivy ) is a French tennis player .
Career
Furness started playing tennis when she was five. He was already active on the ITF Junior Tour. There he achieved his best result in the Junior Grand Slams in 2016 in Wimbledon with the round of 16 in singles and in the Australian Open in doubles with the semi-finals . His best placement was a 36th place in the junior world rankings in mid-2016.
On the professional tour, he has played mainly on the third-class ITF Future Tour since 2015 . There he reached his first final in Saint-Dizier at the end of 2016 . In addition, thanks to a wildcard, he made his first appearance on the higher-endowed ATP Challenger Tour in Brest . Here he lost to Marco Chiudinelli in straight sets. In 2017 Furness mainly played futures. He also managed to qualify for a Challenger on his own for the first time in Eckental , although he was still unable to win at this level. He finished the year on rank 586 in the world rankings . In 2018 he won the first futures title in Faro . He also recorded his first win at Challengers in Saint-Brieuc . After two more successful qualifications for Challengers, he cracked the top 500 in the ranking for the first time in May. A little later, Furness received a wildcard for mixed competition from the tournament officials of the French Open , with which it celebrated its premiere at a Grand Slam tournament. At the side of Fiona Ferro he lost there at the beginning.
