The church in Albertshofen

The Evangelical Church in Albertshofen is the parish church of the Protestant community. The church is located on Kirchstrasse in the middle of the village. Today it is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Dean's Office in Kitzingen .

history

A church in Albertshofen was mentioned as early as the 15th century. The small chapel stood on the site of today's church and was surrounded by the parish cemetery . A small bell with the year 1407 refers to the old age of the building, which was dedicated to St. Nicholas . A well-fortified wall surrounded the building. The chapel had become dilapidated and had to be renewed in the 17th century.

Between 1617 and 1619, already during the Thirty Years' War , a new church was built. It was more representative and had its tower facing the main street. Now the external structure did not change any more. In the 18th century, other furnishings came into the interior of the church. The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation classifies the church as an architectural monument , underground remains are listed as a ground monument .

architecture

The church presents itself as a choir tower church . It is geosted and ends with a gable roof. The tower, which has a post-Gothic core, was raised in the 17th century and given a real pointed helmet . The close walling of the church is a special feature. It can only be entered through a gatehouse and has an inner courtyard. Inside the choir has a ribbed vault, it ends with a round arch.

Furnishing

The pulpit inside the church came into the church in 1779. It was richly decorated with rocailles and set in gold and blue. A blessing, fully plastic Jesus with a shovel crowns the sound cover. He symbolizes the second Adam, the so-called Earthling. Instead of an altar, a simple three-nail crucifix was placed in the choir. The depictions of the four evangelists were painted between the costal arches.

A two-storey gallery, on the other hand, runs through the nave. Only on the west side does the church have a single-storey gallery. The organ was set up here. It came to the church in 1772 and was created by Johann Michael Voit from Schweinfurt . It was donated by Johann Steuerer, who had emigrated to Batavia . The oldest element of the furnishings, however, is the font from 1619. It has a square base and is decorated with tracery.
