history

Protestants have been recorded in Dettelbach as early as the 16th century. In a visitation report from 1576, the population is described as having fallen away from Catholicism . In 1584 only the city council attended the Corpus Christi procession. Thereupon the Würzburg bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn had some citizens locked up and sent the preacher Gerhard Phyen to the official city. As a result of these measures, around 70 families emigrated. Many of them went to Schernau .

With the Thirty Years' War in 1631 the Protestant Swedes came to Dettelbach under King Gustav Adolf . The city even became the seat of the king at times. After the end of the war, the Lutheran citizens were expelled from the city. It was not until the 20th century that Protestants began to settle in the city's new development areas. The Trinity Church was built in 1991 and was consecrated in 1992.

Architecture and equipment

The church is an east-facing hall building with a high pitched roof . On the east side there is a roof turret with a small bell. The open triangular roof gable is a special feature. The furnishings, mainly made of wood, came into the church at the time of construction. Inside there is a gallery all around. In 2010, glass windows by Johannes Schreiber were installed, which are painted using the so-called fusing technique .
