Evangelical Church (Hohenfeld)
The Evangelical Church in Hohenfeld in Lower Franconia is the parish church of the community. It stands on the central Kraussstrasse in the middle of the village and belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Dean's Office in Kitzingen .
history
With the so-called mountain church , a church stood on the outskirts of the village as early as the 13th century. In the 15th century, the parish received its own chapel dedicated to St. Mary in Hohenfeld. The choir was built in 1420. In 1512 the chapel was enlarged because the way up the mountain was too difficult for the villagers.
Later in the 16th century the village of Hohenfeld came to the Margraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach. The Reformation was introduced around 1528 under Margrave Georg the Confessor , and the church received its own Lutheran pastor. In place of the village chapel, which had become too small, the residents planned a new church as early as 1611. In the 18th century the building had become dilapidated and had to be rebuilt. To this end, the community was able to win the Würzburg master builder Joseph Berg, who rebuilt the church from 1705 to 1709. The church is classified as an architectural monument, underground remains are listed as a ground monument.
The church was renovated several times: 1723/24, 1738/39 and 1741/42. In 1783 the tower of the village church and that of the mountain church were repaired. In 1860 the interior had to be whitewashed. At the same time, the church was given a new altar, the pulpit and baptismal font were restored. The church was also renewed in 1896 and 1907.
architecture
The church is a small hall building in the margrave style with a 5 ⁄ 8 -polygonal choir facing east , the oldest component, which still has late Gothic elements in its foundation. The tower was added to the church in the north and ends with an onion dome and lantern. The interior is kept simple with two-story galleries and numerous seats. Discreet stucco work in the nave and choir point to the baroque construction period. The nave with a gabled roof has rectangular windows with geohrten framing, is at its ceiling, the Luther Rose .
Furnishing
The furnishings came into the church at different times. The pulpit with a simple sound cover comes from the previous building from 1650. The four evangelists look out over the congregation from its octagonal body. The choir stalls donated by the Stühler family in the same year also come from the previous church. The baptismal font with a shell-shaped basin is colored.
organ
Behind the simple altar from 1860 is the gallery with the organ. From 1714 to 1716 bills report on elaboration work. Organ maker Joh. Adam Brandenstein from Kitzingen made the new organ. Painter Kaspar Tröster from Fröhstockheim embellished the organ and also the choir room. Johann Schneider from Kitzingen carried out sculpting work on the musical instrument. In 1722/23 the organ builder installed a new register made of tin. In 1802 a repair by organ builder Voit from Schweinfurt was necessary and again in 1853 by organ builder Schubert from Nenzenheim. Finally, in 1875, organ builder Steinmeyer from Oettingen im Ries carried out a thorough overhaul with the installation of a new console.
