Evangelical Church Holtrup
The Evangelical Church in Holtrup , a district of Porta Westfalica , is a church of the Evangelical Lutheran Parish of Holzhausen and Holtrup an der Porta, which belongs to the Vlotho parish of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia .
The church building has existed in its current form since the early 16th century , the tower dates from the 11th century .
Building history and architecture
The late Gothic nave of the present church was built according to a building inscription 1517 and the same width to the existing West Tower grown. Nothing is known about the history of the previous building. It is a three-bay hall building with an extended choir in the 5/8 end . Ribbed vaults with keystones have been drawn into the nave , the windows are ogival and some have tracery . There is an ogival entrance on the south side and a modern extension on the north side.
The wide, rectangular Romanesque tower was built in the 11th century. It originally contained a barrel vault that has been removed. The sound holes are in two parts with central columns.
Interior
Several late Gothic works of art have been preserved in the church. A carved crescent Madonna and figures of the twelve Acts derived from a 1525 resulting Retabel and are attributed to the workshop of the so-called master-Benedict from Hildesheim. Also late Gothic are the hexagonal wooden pulpit , dated 1558 , the octagonal baptismal font and the sacrament house .
