The Protestant parish church is a listed church building in Wersen , a district of the Lotte community in the Steinfurt district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The Wersen farm and the chapel were sold by Count Heinrich von Tecklenburg to the Bishop of Osnabrück in 1150 . The community was founded in the 12th century, and it was first mentioned in a document in 1271 as a parish church . The room is covered with an ogival wooden barrel.

The building is a rectangular hall with two bays . The choir is square, in the 13th century transitional style. The west tower was built in 1886, the south aisle added in 1906. The church is equipped with groin vaults . The original arched windows were partially changed. The simple round arched step portal is on the north side. The choir door is marked 1724. Two side cheeks of a choir stool are decorated with tendrils and coats of arms. The organ parapet is from the 17th century. A coat of arms adorned epitaph from 1718 is for Johann Adolf von Tecklenburg.
