Evangelical Church Congress in the GDR

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In contrast to the German Protestant Kirchentag in the Federal Republic, Protestant church days were held regionally in the GDR , mainly because of political and practical constraints.

Since 1961 the Kirchentage in the GDR had its own organization and its own chairperson, in 1962 the first regional church days were held in Schwerin under the slogan Praise God confidently with singing and in Stralsund under the slogan God - our joy .
