Research priorities

Chrysos worked mainly on the history of diplomacy and international relations of the Byzantine Empire , but also on the Byzantine administrative organization and the history of political ideas. According to Chrysos, Byzantine diplomacy drew neighbors into its network on three levels: first, new rulers were welcomed into the ruler's family, then an assimilation of Byzantine values and attitudes took place, and finally this process was formalized at the legislative level.
