Panagiotis D. Mastrodimitris

Panagiotis Dimitriou Mastrodimitris ( Greek Παναγιώτης Δημητρίου Μαστροδημήτρης , * 1934 in Mantoudi , Euboia ) is a Greek neo-Greekist .

Mastrodimitris studied Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology at the University of Athens . There he obtained his diploma in 1957 and received his doctorate in 1970. After working in school from 1961 to 1968 and as a lecturer from 1966, he was appointed Professor of Modern Greek Philology at the University of Thessaloniki in 1972. In 1975 he moved to Athens in the same position. With his retirement in 2001 he received the honorary title of ομότιμος καθηγητής .

Mastrodimitris works in four areas: literary methodology, modern Greek literature, edition philology and literary criticism . His introduction to modern Greek philology, now in its seventh edition, is one of the standard works in the subject.
