Konstantinos Thiseos Dimaras Κωνσταντίνος Θησέως Δημαράς, even in the transcription: Konstantinos Theseos Demaras (* 21st May 1904 in Athens ; † 18th February 1992 in Paris ) was a Greek literary scholar and Neogräzist and Professor of Modern Greek Literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and from the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne .

Dimaras first began to study medicine, but then enrolled at the Philosophical School of the University of Athens , and later switched to the University of Thessaloniki. There he passed his first final exam (πτυχίο) and received his doctorate. He was later appointed professor of modern Greek literature there. Since 1951 he was director of the State Scholarship Foundation (Ίδρυμα Kρατικών Yποτροφιών Idrima Kratikon Ipotrofion ) and since 1961 Senior Advisor to the National (then Royal) Research Center (Eθνικόν - τότε Bασιλικόν - Ίδρυμα Eρευνών Ethnikon - dead Basilikon - Idrima Erewnon ) in the field of modern Greek literature. In 1967, however, he was removed from both offices by the military junta and in 1970 he accepted a call from the Sorbonne to the chair of modern Greek literature, connected with the management of the Institute for Modern Greek Literature ( Institut neo -hellénique de Paris IV-Sorbonne ), which he accepted held until 1978.

Dimaras is one of the pioneers of research into the modern Greek Enlightenment. He paid particular attention to the historian Konstantinos Paparrigopoulos (a smaller work concerns a biography of the painter Dionysius of Phourna ). The research on the Greek Enlightenment has gone fully into his main work, a history of modern Greek literature. Another monograph deals with Greek Romanticism . He has also published articles in newspapers and magazines such as Eλληνικά Γράμματα Ellinika grammata and Πρωΐα Proïa , but especially in Tο Bήμα To Vima and Nέα Eστία Nea Estia . and Greek literature translated into French, for example the Alexandrian poet Konstantinos Kavafis together with Marguerite Yourcenar .
