Attractions
The wooden church of Evenes , built in 1800 and seating 460 people, stands on the site of the first church in Ofoten , built around 1250 by King Håkon IV ; this and a successor building built in 1677 were destroyed by fire. Today's church, modeled on the style of Danish Biedermeier villas, contains some remnants of its predecessors, including a font from the 13th century.
