Everaldo

Everaldo , full name Everaldo Marques da Silva (born September 11, 1944 in Porto Alegre , † October 28, 1974 in Santa Cruz do Sul ), was a Brazilian football player . He played in the defense of EC Juventude , Gremio Porto Alegre and the Brazilian national team . The peak of his career was in 1970, when Brazil won all qualifying and finals matches at the 1970 World Cup and became world champions in Mexico. Everaldo was on the starting line-up every time, except for one game, including in the final against Italy.

The gold star in Gremio's coat of arms was placed in his honor in 1970. He died in a car accident in Santa Cruz do Sul . He is considered to be one of the best left-backs of all time.
