Edu , real name Jonas Eduardo Américo (born August 6, 1949 in Jaú ), is a former Brazilian soccer player .

Life

Between 1966 and 1985 he played for FC Santos , Corinthians , Internacional Porto Alegre , Tigres UANL (in Mexico), São Cristovão and Nacional Fast Clube . He won the Campeonato Paulista in 1967, 1968, 1969, 1973, 1977 and he won the Brazilian Silver Prize in 1971.

In the Brazilian national soccer team he played between June 1966 to June 1976 and scored eleven goals. He took part in three world championships: 1966 World Cup (England), 1970 World Cup (Mexico) and 1974 World Cup (Germany). Edu's career peaked in 1970, when Brazil won every qualifying and final round of the 1970 World Cup and became world champions in Mexico . In 1970 he played once.
