Paulo César Lima

Paulo César Lima (born June 16, 1949 in Rio de Janeiro ), known by his stage name Caju , is a former Brazilian soccer player . He played in attacking midfield or as a striker. In 1970 he was part of the Brazilian squad that became world champions in Mexico .

Career

Caju began his career in Rio de Janeiro's traditional club Botafogo FR , with which he won the state championship of the state of Rio de Janeiro several times.

The Bola de Ouro got Caju 1970, 1972, 1976, 1977. This award selects the best player in the Brazilian league in a team of the year.

Caju had one of his career highlights with the Brazilian national team in Mexico in 1970 . He was part of the squad that became world champions for the third time. He also took part in the 1974 World Cup in Germany, where Brazil finished fourth. He made a total of 57 games for Brazil and scored 10 goals.
