Evocation is a Swedish death metal band from Borås .

history

The band was founded in Borås in autumn 1991. The singer Jani Karvola left the band after a few months, however, and Thomas Josefsson took over his position in addition to playing bass. In 1992 two demo recordings were made. The first, recorded with Tomas Skogsberg in his Sunlight Studio, was limited to 500 copies and was called The Ancient Gate . The second recording took place in a local studio and with the help of the new bassist Christian "Kricke" Saarinen. Live performances with other Swedish death metal bands such as Dark Tranquility , Dismember and Ceremonial Oath followed . Despite some inquiries from various record companies, the band was put on hold for an indefinite period in the fall of 1993 due to musical differences.

In 2004 the two demos were released together as a new edition by the record company Breath of Night Records , which the band had contacted in 2001. The band members then began rehearsing together again in the summer of 2005. Christian Saarinen was replaced by Martin "Tore" Toresson due to time problems. After another demo in 2006, the band signed a multi-album contract with the German label Cyclone Empire in early 2007 . In April of the same year, the band's first album called Tales From The Tomb was released , the cover artwork of which was designed by Dan Seagrave . This was followed by some appearances at summer festivals such as the Wacken Open Air .

The band's second album, called Dead Calm Chaos , was released in October 2008 with guest contributions from Anders Björler ( At the Gates , The Haunted ) and Dan Swanö ( Bloodbath , Edge of Sanity ). Travis Smith is responsible for the artwork and layout . The band went on a European tour with the bands Cannibal Corpse , Dying Fetus and Obscura .

In 2010 the third album Apocalyptic was released . The artwork was designed by the Polish artist Xaay, who had previously worked for other bands such as Behemoth and Nile . In North America the album was released by Metal Blade Records , in Russia by ФОНО (FONO).
