Ewald Dittmann
Ewald Dittmann (born May 11, 1877 , † April 20, 1945 Kiel-Russee ) was a German Protestant pastor , resistance fighter against National Socialism and a member of the Confessing Church .
Life
Dittmann acquired after attending the elementary school , the university and studied Protestant theology . After placing the Second Theological exam , he was appointed pastor ordained and took over the pastorate of Galmsbüll . From there he moved to Süderhastedt in Dithmarschen in 1932 . After the transfer of power to the NSDAP , he joined the Confessing Church and thus drew the attention of the Gestapo to his public work. In his sermons he repeatedly alluded to the so-called millennial kingdom and the Führer, emphasizing that only God's kingdom is eternal and that Jesus Christ alone is Lord. In March 1945 he was arrested for “ behavior contrary to the community ” and sent to the “ Nordmark Labor Education Camp ”, where he had to do forced labor . He died there shortly before the liberation.
Aftermath
- The Evangelical Church Community of Süderhastedt honored its martyr with a memorial stone. In Dithmarschen a stumbling stone was laid in memory of Dittmann.
