Ewald Ivanschitz

Ewald Ivanschitz (born September 22, 1953 in Eisenstadt ; † August 11, 2014 ) was an Austrian clarinetist and music teacher.

life and career

Ewald Ivanschitz received his first clarinet lessons from Rudolf Hausmann in 1963 and initially learned to be a car mechanic. During his military service he began studying clarinet at the Joseph Haydn Conservatory in Burgenland , which he continued with Alfred Prinz at the Vienna University of Music and graduated in 1979 with a diploma. In 1980 he was qualified to teach, and in 1986 he graduated with a master's degree .

From 1979 he taught at the Joseph Haydn Conservatory in Eisenstadt and until his death headed a training class for clarinet, saxophone and chamber music and headed Department VI / wind instruments and percussion. Heinz-Peter Linshalm from the Stump-Linshalm Duo was one of his students .

Among other things, he was a long-time member of the Joseph Haydn Chamber Orchestra in Eisenstadt and the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra , as well as the Trio-Eisenstadt. He also worked with the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria and the Mörbisch Seefestspiele . He had solo appearances with the Haydn Orchestra, the Haydn Quartet and the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra. Tours have taken him to Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia, and he has also made recordings and radio.

Ewald Ivanschitz's grave

For 30 years he worked as a freelancer for the ORF regional studio Burgenland as a production manager for brass music productions and morning pint broadcasts.

Among other things, Ivanschitz composed polkas, medleys, dixies, marches and waltzes. He was the father of three sons, including soccer players Andreas Ivanschitz and Clemens Ivanschitz .

He was buried in the family grave in the Baumgarten cemetery , Mattersburg district .
