The Exelberg is a mountain in Lower Austria , near the Vienna city limits in the northern Vienna Woods. It has a height of 516 m above sea level. A.
A state road leads over the Exelberg from Tulbing in the Tulln district to Vienna's Höhenstraße .
The mountain is known for the Exel hill climb carried out here on the road . This competition, organized by the Austrian Automobile Club , was the oldest motor car race in Austria- Hungary and took place for the first time on May 21, 1899. As a car race, they were carried out until 1904. In 1910 there was another motorcycle race.
Even today the road is a popular motorcycle route.
Today the Exelberg transmission tower stands on Exelberg .
