The FDP. The Liberals Aargau is a political party in the canton of Aargau . The party is the cantonal section of the FDP, the Liberals .

Party organization

The highest body of the FDP. The Liberals Aargau is the party congress. The party congress draws the slogans in the voting campaign and is responsible for nominating candidates before elections. Other organs are the management, the management committee and the parliamentary group. The party is represented by district sections in all eleven Aargau districts .

The party demands the implementation of free-spirited-liberal ideas in the canton of Aargau . The FDP. The Liberals Aargau advocates less regulation, low taxes, liberalization in the economy and a high level of attractiveness as a location.

history

The history of the FDP Aargau goes far beyond its actual founding date, March 8, 1895. Time and again it was important Aargau liberals who helped shape Switzerland from the Helvetic Republic to the founding of the federal state in 1848. Philipp Albert Stapfer and Albrecht Rengger were education and interior ministers during the Helvetic Republic. Heinrich Zschokke from Magdeburg, but living in Aarau , pioneered the elementary school.

So far, the FDP Aargau has three federal councilors: in 1848 the Aarau manufacturer Friedrich Frey-Herosé was elected sixth to the first federal council of the newly founded federal state. In 1867 Emil Welti from Zurzach was elected to the Federal Council of the liberal-radical faction. And in 1912 Edmund Schulthess from Brugg was elected to the Federal Council. In 1961, with Hans Schaffner , another liberal from Aargau ( Gränichen ) was elected to the Federal Council. From 1984 to 1989, Bruno Hunziker from Aarau from Aarau presided over the FDP Switzerland. From 2012 to 2016, the FDP Switzerland once again had an Aargau president in Philipp Müller from Reinach .
