Néstor Fabián Canobbio Bentaberry (born March 8, 1980 in Montevideo ), also known as Néstor Canobbio , is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

Fabián Canobbio is the brother of the football player Carlos Canobbio . The career of Canobbio, who is 1.81 meters tall according to the club, began in 1996 at the Uruguayan club Club Atlético Progreso . There he made his debut the following year, played in the Segunda División until 2000 , scored at least 13 goals and then moved within the city to Club Atlético Peñarol , which was a league higher , for which he was on the field from the 2001 Apertura . He was once champion with the Montevideans (2003) before he left for Valencia CF in Spain . After only one season with eleven appearances in the Primera División (one goal), he left the club again after he had previously been sorted out by the new coach Claudio Ranieri . However, he won that season with the Spaniards the national champion title and the UEFA Cup in 2003/04 . He moved to Celta Vigo at the end of August 2004 on loan and with a purchase option for his new club valued at around two million euros . There Canobbio played a central role in midfield, appeared a total of 131 times for his club and hit the opposing goal 29 times. With Celta Vigo he first appeared in the Segunda División and rose at the end of the 2004/05 season. The association withdrew the purchase option, but was apparently still able to lower the agreed purchase price. In 2005/06 he was one of the top performers alongside Baiano, Oubiña, Silva and Pinto. At the end of the season, the team qualified for the UEFA Cup . In the 2006/2007 season, in which Canobbio delivered poor performance, relegation followed. In the summer of 2008 Canobbio moved to the Spanish first division club Real Valladolid . After the club's relegation at the end of the 2009/10 season , he left the club and moved to AE Larisa in the Greek Super League . There he played 18 games in the 2010/11 season and scored three goals. In September 2011 Canobbio returned to Uruguay after eight years in Europe and joined the Centro Atlético Fénix . There he was used in the Apertura 2011 five times in the Primera División (no goal). He then played for Progreso from February 2012 . There are no deployment data for the 2012 Clausura. After a strong Torneo Apertura with four goals in 13 league appearances, he went to the second half of the season (Clausura) of the 2012/13 season the same way as Leonardo Ramos , his previous coach at Progreso, and joined Danubio . Canobbio signed a one-year contract. For Danubio he then appeared 15 times in the Clausura 2013 and scored four goals in this half-series. In the 2013/14 season he only played three more top division games for the Montevideans, with whom he became Uruguayan champions at the end of the season. For the new season 2014/15 he extended his contract. In the 2014/15 season he was used in three first division games (no goal) and one game (no goal) of the Copa Sudamericana 2014 . Then he left the club.

National team

Canobbio, who was a member of the Uruguayan U-17 team that took part in the U-17 South American Championships in Paraguay in 1997 , played in his home country's U-20 team with Diego Forlán , Javier Chevantón , Fabián Carini and Diego, among others Pérez at the 1999 U-20 World Cup in Nigeria. During the World Cup tournament, he was used four times and scored one goal. In 1999 he took part with Uruguay's U-20s in the South American Championship and finished second. Canobbio also competed with the Uruguayan B national team at the Sanghai International Tournament (Torneo Internacional de Shanghai) in Shanghai in 1999 and won this competition. He was used in the games against Sydney United and Yokohama FC each in the starting line-up.

From his debut on October 7, 2001 to his last appearance on July 14, 2007 Canobbio completed nine international matches (no goal) for the Uruguayan national soccer team . (As of October 16, 2012) He was part of the squad at the 2007 Copa America in Venezuela .
