Career
society
Goalkeeper Carini began his career with Danubio FC in his hometown of Montevideo. In his fourth season he became the goalkeeper. For the 2000/01 season Fabián Carini moved to the Italian record champions Juventus Turin , but he was not used in his two seasons in Turin . For the 2002/03 season, the goalkeeper was loaned to Standard Liège in the Belgian First Division . Here he matured into a goalkeeper in his second season. In the 2004/05 season Carini returned to Serie A and moved to Inter Milan , but he was rarely used here. Therefore he was loaned to Cagliari Calcio for the 2005/06 season, where he was also only a substitute goalkeeper. After returning to Inter in the summer of 2006, Fabián Carini was only the club's fourth goalkeeper and therefore did not appear in the following season. In the summer of 2007 he signed a four-year contract with Real Murcia , where he was second goalkeeper behind Antonio Notario . In the summer of 2009 Carini moved to the Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro , from 2011 he was with Peñarol Montevideo . In the 2011 Clausura, 2011 Apertura and 2012 Clausura, he played a total of 24 first division games for the Aurinegros . In mid-2012, shortly before the transfer window closed, he was informed that his services would no longer be important and that he should train with the reserve, although Carini was still a regular in the preparation for the season in July 2012. In 2013 he was under contract with Deportivo Quito . Until his last appearance on December 8, 2013, he completed 40 league games there. Other sources carried out 39 Carini missions with the Ecuadorians in 2013. In June 2014, his move to the Juventud team coached by Jorge Giordano was announced. In the 2014/15 season he was used in 28 top division games. This was followed by 27 additional premier league appearances in the 2015/16 season and three games of the Copa Sudamericana 2015 . In the 2016 season he played 14 league games and also scored two goals.
He then signed a contract for one season with the Montevideo Wanderers , but announced a few days later in the first half of January 2017 that he would retire due to a back injury.
National team
Juniors
Carini, who was already a member of Uruguay's U-17 , also played in the Uruguayan U-20 national team . With this he took part in the 1997 U-20 South American Championship in Chile (two tournaments), the 1997 Junior World Cup , which ended as runner-up, and the 1999 U-20 South American Championship in Argentina (nine tournaments). At the two South American Championships, the Celeste was each junior vice-South American champion. Also at the 1999 Junior World Cup in Nigeria , he was part of the Charrúas squad . In the latter tournament he was voted the best goalkeeper. Furthermore, Carini was also a member of the U-23 in his home country. There he was at the "Torneo Preolímpico" in Brazil in 2000 in six international matches.
A national team
Carini made his debut in the senior national team on June 17, 1999 in Ciudad del Este against Paraguay . In the same year he also took part in the Copa America with Uruguay , where he was a regular goalkeeper and reached the final with his team. There they lost 3-0 to Brazil. After he was regularly used in the following World Cup qualifications, he was also the goalkeeper of his selection in 2002 at the 2002 World Cup . Carini was there in all three group matches that Uruguay played. The Copa America 2007 , in which Uruguay finished fourth, he again played as the first goalkeeper of the Celeste. Fabián Carini was a member of the Uruguayan national team until 2009 , where he is regularly used. However, he was no longer the clear number 1, as Sebastián Viera from FC Villarreal recently played just as often. His last of a total of 74 international matches was played on February 11, 2009. 72 goals have been conceded during this time.
