Fabian Gering (born November 1, 1996 in Plauen / Saxony ) is a German long-distance runner .

Career

Fabian Gering began his athletic career at the age of 14 with LG Vogtland. In his early childhood he still played soccer for VFC Plauen , but later gave up.

At the age of 16 he ran the 10 km at the Asics Grand 10 in Berlin in a time of 31:06 minutes. This time also meant the improvement of the Saxony record in the U18 age group.

In November 2014 he qualified for the European Cross Country Championships in Samokov . Due to injury, he had to be content with 63rd place.

In 2015, the Vogtlander switched to TV Wattenscheid 01 athletics where he trained under Tono Kirschbaum.

At the German championships over 10,000 meters on May 2, 2015 in Ohrdruf, he was able to qualify as German youth champion in a new best time of 30: 17.14 minutes for the international title fights taking place in July. In a highly tactical race, Fabian Gering was runner -up over 10,000 meters at the U-20 European Championships in Eskilstuna, Sweden . In the finish line, he was only beaten by Italian Pietro Riva in a time of 30: 20.69 minutes.

After a year marked by injuries in 2016, Gering moved to TC FIKO Rostock at the beginning of 2017 .
