Fabio Mini

Fabio Mini (born December 11, 1942 in Manfredonia , Foggia ) is an Italian lieutenant general . He was the commander of KFOR from 2002 to 2003 .

Academic and military training

Mini holds a degree in business administration , a master's degree in strategic studies, two postgraduate degrees in humanities from the Lateran University “Accademia Agostiniana” and one in international relations from the University of Trieste . In 1965 he graduated from the Italian Military Academy . Immediately afterwards he attended the armored forces school. From 1975 to 1987 he completed staff courses at the Army Command Academy, which he graduated as the best of his year.

He underwent military training in anti-tank , NBC defense , PsyOps and NATO press officer .

Military career

He assumed commanding responsibility at all levels of the Mechanized Forces, from platoons to brigades . In the course of his later assignment, he led the operation " Sicilian Vespers " against organized crime in Sicily . The code name refers to an uprising in 1282. Furthermore, Mini led the preparation, training and start of operations of the "Legnano Brigade" in Somalia .

Mini worked as an S3 (training) and NBC defense officer for the 4th tank regiment in Bellinzago Novarese and as a G4 officer (logistics) for the Ariete tank brigade in Pordenone . From 1979 to 1981 he served in the United States in the 4th Mechanized Infantry Division in Fort Carson , Colorado , as a G3 officer for planning and operations, as a deputy G3 officer in training and evaluation, and as a senior G3 officer of the Combat Simulation Center . After his return to Italy he served in the Army General Staff as a staff officer in the personnel department, as head of the public relations office and as a press and information officer of the Army General Staff. From 1993 to 1996 he was posted to Beijing as a military attaché .

As major general he was director of the Army Command Academy (1996–1998). In January 2001, he was appointed by the Allied Forces Southern Europe to command the Allied Forces for Balkan operations.

Lieutenant General Fabio Mini was the commander of KFOR from October 4, 2002 to September 3, 2003.

Publication activity

Fabio Mini wrote extensively on military , strategic, and geopolitical issues. Among his works are two notable books: Comandare e comunicare (1989) and L'altra strategia (1998). He wrote more than twenty essays and numerous essays that have been published in both military and civil journals such as The Military Review , Limes, and Heartland . In 2001 he edited the Italian version of the book Unrestricted Warfare: China's Master Plan to Destroy America by the two colonels of the People's Liberation Army, Qiao Liang and Wang Xiaosui. Mini is a founding member and chairman of the independent, non-profit think tank Newstrategy . He is a member of the World Pugwash Conference and the scientific advisory board of the military magazine "Limes". He regularly gives lectures on Far Eastern and Asian strategy, terrorism and organized crime .

Private

Fabio Mini is married and has a daughter and a son. He grew up in Pesaro , Italy.
