Specialized information center

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The subject information centers (FIZ) are special institutions in the field of library, information and documentation sciences ( BID area ) that count as subject information . They belong to the public or organized information sector, since they mostly emerged from the Federal Government's program to promote information and documentation (1974–1977), which had the aim of centrally controlling information and documentation as planned. Some of these institutions are state-financed or subsidized to this day, and some are fully self-financed today. The business models and sponsors of the institutions are diverse, as is the range of their services. Information offered by the specialist information centers can be found on the following websites. In addition, they were integrated into the German science portal vascoda until the beginning of 2011 .
