The Meier Family is a television series by Franz Xaver Bogner for Bayerischer Rundfunk . The series consists of 28 episodes of 15 minutes each and was filmed from 1981 to 1983.

After the six-part time enough , the Meier family was Bogner's first long-term early evening series. He established himself in this genre, which until then was occupied solely by Helmut Dietl . Cult series like Irgendwie und Sowieso , Zur Freiheit , Café Perjury and Munich 7 followed.

Bogner shows the small and existential problems of a Munich petty bourgeois family: The father, Alois Meier, is a self-employed taxi driver, his wife Maria, traditionally a housewife and mother, and the two pubescent children Susi and Thomas.
