The old tower

The old lighthouse (2018)

The old tower is just a rectangular, single-story lighthouse keeper's house. A light dome is about 6 meters high, directly on the roof on the seaward side. The tower was opened in 1902 as a navigation aid for coastal shipping between Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the ports of the western Canary Islands. The tower has not been in operation since 1976. The building and the dome light are still preserved today. Between 2003 and 2005, the building was renovated by a measure for unemployed young people for over € 700,000 from public funds, with the aim of opening a hotel school and finally a restaurant. After the end of the measure, the plans were discarded.

The new tower

In 1978 the new tower, right next to the old one, was put into operation. It is a cylindrical concrete tower 39 meters high. The white tower has three red ribbons. The fire height is 54 meters. The tower stands on a cliff directly on the Atlantic Ocean , about 15  msnm and can be reached via a road from Poris de Abona. It is registered under the international number D-2829 and the national identifier 12870 and irradiates a sector from 213.6 to 040.3  degrees . This tower is a smaller variant of the Faro de Fuencaliente , which is located on the island of La Palma . Next to the light dome there is a boom for a radar system . Directional antennas are still mounted on the tower.
