Fatmir Vata (born September 19 or September 20, 1971 in Rrëshen ) is an Albanian football coach and former player.

career

The offensive midfielder Vata began his football career at NK Samobor in Croatia , then played from 1995 at NK Slaven Belupo Koprivnica and from 1997 at NK Vukovar '91 . During the 1999/2000 season he moved to the German second division club SV Waldhof Mannheim before finally moving to Bielefeld in 2001 . For the 2002/03 season he rose with the Arminia in the Bundesliga , but the league did not manage. In 2004, the company immediately rose again.

Vata was footballer of the year in Albania in 2004, but no longer played for the Albanian national team due to personal differences with Hans-Peter Briegel . He impressed Arminia Bielefeld with his combative commitment and his willingness to run. He acquired the reputation of a swallow king, which can also be explained by the fact that some opponents only knew how to stop him with a foul due to his liveliness. Vata was therefore also one of the most frequently fouled players in the Bundesliga. After his serious injury before the start of the 2006/07 season ( cruciate ligament tear ), he was only one of the substitutes. Since he was no longer considered under coach Ernst Middendorp , the club gave him the release for the new season and he was allowed to leave Arminia - despite his contract until 2008 - free of charge. He scored his last goal for Arminia on the 33rd match day of the 2006/07 season in the home game against Hannover (3-1). For the 2007/08 season Vata moved to TuS Koblenz , where he met his former coach Uwe Rapolder again . Vata played at Koblenz until 2009. On August 27, the third division club Wuppertaler SV Borussia announced the Alban's new signing. He came on a free transfer and received a contract until mid-2010. He should bring more accuracy into the game of the Wuppertal. But Vata could not prevent the descent of Wuppertaler SV and he did not receive a new contract.

After retiring in 2010, Fatmir Vata worked as a player's agent. On October 27, 2013 he announced his comeback at FC 08 Boffzen; he made his debut in the Hanover 4 district league against SSG Halvestorf on October 28, 2013 at the age of 42. In the 2014/15 season he was no longer represented in the squad and ended his active career.

On July 1, 2016, Vata took over as the successor to Heiko Bonan as coach of FC Gütersloh 2000 from the Oberliga Westfalen . In the 2016/17 season he achieved 10th place in the table with the club before the club shortened its name to FC Gütersloh . After the 2017/18 season, he ended his coaching activity there.

Private

Fatmir Vata is married, has two sons and lives with his family in Bielefeld . After a historic victory over the Turkish national team, Vata, like all his teammates, received a legally valid diplomatic ID.
