The Dröda dam, which is also called the Feilebach dam or the Feilebach dam after the dammed river , is a dam in the Vogtland district in the Free State of Saxony . It was built for the drinking water supply and flood protection . It is also used to generate electricity .
Buildings
The dam of the dam Dröda is a 52.5 m high gravity dam of concrete . The dam was built from 1964 to 1971 near Dröda , a district of the Weischlitz community , west of Oelsnitz (Vogtland) . When the dam was built, the villages of Ramoldsreuth and Dechengrün were completely demolished, which, like the dam, were located in the 5 km restricted area of the then inner-German border .
The exact operating dates are:
- Laying of the foundation stone: August 4th, 1967,
- Start of accumulation: October 2, 1969,
- Commissioning and official handover: October 6, 1971.
The dam has a small hydropower plant , two pre- dams (Bobenneukirchen, Ramoldsreuth) and nine pre-basins. The Feilebach and its tributary Schafbach are dammed, which is why the dam has two arms.
Freetime activities
Leisure sports in and on the reservoir are not possible except for fishing to keep the water clean. The top of the wall is not open to the public. However, a hiking trail leads over the dam of the Ramoldsreuth barrier.
history
Since the catchment area of the drinking water dam over the Feilebach is partly in Bavaria, indication ponds were created at the inflows from Bavaria during the Cold War . These were stocked with fish, which were supposed to indicate any chemical contamination of the tributaries by hostile forces . The largest indication pond was located near the former place Troschenreuth, which was destroyed by the border troops of the GDR . The Oberhartmannsreuther Bach was dammed here. This indication pond is now part of the Dröda reservoir system as the Troschenreuth pre-basin .
