Feliciano Antonio Chiclana (born June 9, 1761 in Buenos Aires , † September 17, 1826 there ) was an Argentine politician , military, judge and lawyer .

Life

Chiclana studied law at the University of Chile in Santiago , where he passed the bar exam in 1783 . After returning to Argentina, he initially decided to work as a lawyer, but joined the army during the independence movement of Argentina in the course of the May Revolution and later became a captain and colonel . In August 1810 he took over the administration of the Province of Santiago del Estero , the Province of Salta and the Department of Potosí as Governor .

In September 1811 he became a member of the First Triumvirate together with Juan José Paso and Manuel de Sarratea . He held this office until October 1812. In November 1812 he was again governor of Salta. In 1817 he spoke out against the administration of Juan Martín de Pueyrredón , which is why he had to go into exile in Baltimore . From 1817 to 1818 he lived in exile in the United States. He retired in 1822 and died in Buenos Aires in September 1826. He was buried there too.
