Felipe Baloy (born February 24, 1981 in Panama City ) is a former Panamanian football player.
career
society
At the beginning of his career Baloy played for one season each with his home clubs AFC Eurokickers and Sporting San Miguelito . He then moved to Colombia , where he first worked for Envigado FC and then for Independiente Medellín . Then he was under contract with Gremio Porto Alegre and Athletico Paranaense in Brazil . With the Rubro-Negros he won the Paraná State Championship in 2005 .
While his previous positions were only short-lived, his move to Mexico in summer 2005 meant a long-term association bond; first to CF Monterrey and then to Santos Laguna , with whom he won the Mexican football championship once . It is interesting in this context that after moving to Santos Laguna at the beginning of 2010, he twice reached the finals of the CONCACAF Champions League with his new club , both of which were played against his previous club, CF Monterrey. The 2011/12 final was lost 0: 2 and 2: 1 from the perspective of Santos Laguna. The 2012/13 final first leg ended goalless at Estadio TSM Corona , so that Monterrey had another advantage in the second leg thanks to the home advantage. Santos Laguna led 1-0 at the break, however, and Baloy's goal in the 50th minute gave the visitors a 2-0 lead. But in the end Monterrey prevailed 4-2 and relegated Santos Laguna again to second place.
Since joining Monarca's Morelia in early 2014, Baloy has made more frequent club changes again. In the 2015/16 season he played for Atlas Guadalajara and most recently again in Colombia for Rionegro Águilas , where he announced his departure in November 2016.
National team
Felipe Baloy was a Panamanian national player and former team captain from 2001 to 2018 . So far he has made 90 appearances for his country. The greatest success was reaching the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2005 , which after a goalless encounter was only lost 3-1 on penalties against the hosts United States . Baloy was the only Panamanian player to convert his penalty in the final.
During the 2018 World Cup in Russia , Baloy scored the first goal for Panama in a World Cup finals in their 6-1 loss to England .
