Felipe Tejeda García

Felipe Tejeda García MSpS (born January 21, 1935 in Guadalajara - † April 9, 2018 ) was a Mexican clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Mexico .

Life

Felipe Tejeda García, tenth in a family with eleven children, joined the Order of Missionaries of the Holy Spirit on August 15, 1948 . He took the vows of the Order on the feast of the Immaculate Conception in 1955. He studied philosophy from 1956 to 1958 and theology from 1961 to 1966 at the seminary of Coyoacán. The Archbishop of Puebla de los Ángeles , Octaviano Márquez y Tóriz , ordained him as a priest on December 17, 1966 in the basilica of Guadalupe . He was initially a teacher at the Minor Seminary of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit in San Luis Potosí and from 1967 to 1969 at the Major Seminary in San José del Altillo. In pastoral care he was in the Church of Our Lady of Solitude in Mérida, Yucatán, from 1969 to 1970 and in the parish of San Isidro in Comalcalco from 1970 to 1972.

When he returned to the Archdiocese of Mexico, he took care of the spiritual direction of the priests and served in the parish of Our Lady of the Incarnation. He was a member of the Community of Missionaries of the Holy Spirit in Mexicalzingo; later their superior. In addition, he was Pro-Vicar of Pastoral Zone VII of the Archdiocese of Mexico, first with Carlos Talavera Ramírez (1980-1984), then with Francisco Orozco Lomelí (1984-1990). He was appointed Vicar General in 1990 by Archbishop Ernesto Cardinal Corripio y Ahumada and confirmed in 1995 by Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera . In 1998 he was appointed Episcopal Vicar of Pastoral Zone III. the Archdiocese of Mexico.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Castabala and auxiliary bishop in Mexico on January 29, 2000 . The Archbishop of Mexico , Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera , gave him episcopal ordination on March 4th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Justo Mullor García , Apostolic Nuncio in Mexico, and Ricardo Watty Urquidi MSpS , Auxiliary Bishop in Mexico.

On July 30, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
