Felix Hollenberg
Felix Hollenberg (born December 15, 1868 in Sterkrade , † April 28, 1945 Gomadingen ) was a German painter and etcher . He is one of the important landscape erasers of the 19th and 20th centuries. Century.
Life
From 1887 to 1888 he attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy . In 1888 he studied at the Stuttgart Art School .
From 1916 Felix Hollenberg worked on the handbook for painter erasers . By studying old manuals and based on his own experience, he wanted to convey the technical finesse of the art of etching . Felix Hollenberg found the “ intimate ” beauty of the local landscape. Hollenberg's work is considered to be the link between Liebermann's impressionist graphics and those of the expressionists . He often drew his motifs in the open air directly on the plate from nature .

Felix Hollenberg Prize
The Art Museum Albstadt (until 2015 Galerie Albstadt ) has been awarding the Felix Hollenberg Prize for Printmaking to contemporary artists since 1992, with a special focus on etching. The award was donated by Dr. Schad-Hollenberg and the city of Albstadt. The Art Museum Albstadt owns over 1,000 works by Hollenberg, which are shown in changing exhibitions. The Felix-Hollenberg-Galerie in the town hall of Gomadingen shows 350 graphics, paintings and watercolors from all creative phases of the artist in a permanent exhibition. The motifs come particularly from the area around Gomadingen, the Lautertal and the Swabian Alb .
