Felix Schwormstädt
Felix Schwormstädt (born September 16, 1870 in Hamburg , † February 18, 1938 in Locarno , Switzerland ) was a German painter , draftsman and illustrator . He made a name for himself as a marine painter .
Life
Schwormstädt studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . The pupil of Carl von Marrs began his artistic career as a book illustrator for the Paul List Verlag in Leipzig (7 full pictures of the novel “Renata” 1913 by Julius Wolff). He worked as a graphic designer for Hapag and Norddeutscher Lloyd before becoming a leading press illustrator for the Leipziger Illustrierte Zeitung during the First World War . Around 1920 he worked as a professor at the Bauhaus in Weimar and again increasingly for the North German Lloyd.
